Butterfly Frame Tutorial
Hello my Creative Friends,
I hope you are all Well. In Today’s Tutorial I will show you how I Re-Purposed a Frame I bought into a simple, elegant, Butterfly Frame. It is a great way to change a Frame to suit your own Style and the Colours you have in your Home.
Frame for Crafting
I bought a Frame in my local Dealz. It consists of a Light Wood Frame with 3 Pegs that you can add Photographs to Display.
This is the Back of the Frame.
I popped out the back of the Frame from the front section.
I cut the String at both Sides of the Frame which is holding the Pegs and Paper.
This is the Front of the Frame with the Accessories removed.
Painting the Butterfly Frame White
I put the Frame on a Sheet of Baking Parchment Paper to protect the Table while Painting. I got a small flat sponge with handle, my White Acrylic Paint and a Lid from a Jar to hold the Paint.
I poured some Paint into the Lid. I dipped the Sponge into the Paint and dabbed the excess onto another part of the Lid to ensure it didn’t have too much Paint on it.
I put the Frame standing up on the Baking Paper. I held onto the Side of the Frame with one hand and dabbed the Sponge with Paint onto the Flat part of the Frame with my other hand.
I worked around 3 outer Sides of the Frame and then the 3 Inner Sides of the Frame, by holding onto the fourth Side of the Frame with my hand in the air.
I then put the Frame laying down on the Baking Paper and completed the last outer and inner side of the Frame with the Sponge.
I dabbed the Sponge in one area, then applied more Paint to the Sponge and continued where I had left off on the Frame and blended it all together with the Sponge.
This is the Frame laying down with just the 4 top Sides left to be Painted.
I Painted the Top of the Frame in the same way with the Sponge. The Frame now had one even coat of Paint.
I washed the Sponge and covered the Lid with Cling Film to prevent the Paint drying out. I Painted 2 more layers to the Frame leaving an hour drying time between every layer.
This is a Side angle of the Frame after the 3 coats of Paint were applied and dried.
Attaching Paper to the Backing of the Frame
This is the Front Side of the Backing of the Frame.
I got an A4 Light Blue Sheet of Cardstock from a multi-pack I had in my supplies.
I put the Backing of the Frame over the Blue Sheet and traced around it with a Pencil.

I got my Roll of Double-Sided Tape.
I cut strips of the Double-Sided Tape and attached them to the Front Side of the Backing of the Frame.
I removed the White backing of the Double-Sided Tape. The Tape on the Frame is Clear and now sticky on both sides.
I cut out the measurements I made on the Blue Sheet using a small sharp scissors. I attached the Blue Sheet to the Front Side of the Backing of the Frame. I pressed it along each side with my fingers to ensure it was attached to the Tape.
Here is the Painted Frame with the Blue Sheet attached to the Backing of the Frame.
Putting the Frame back Together
I got my Hand Held Stapler.
I Stapled the Backing of the Frame back into the Frame. I added 10 Staples altogether to make sure it was fully secure.
This is how the Front of the Frame looks with it put back together.
Butterfly Stickers
I got my Pack of 3-D Butterfly Stickers.
Attaching the Butterfly Stickers to the Frame
I put the biggest Blue Butterfly into the center of the Frame.
I added a smaller yellow Butterfly to the left-hand side of the Frame.
The same size and colour butterfly was added to the right-hand side of the Frame.
This Completed my Butterfly Frame Craft.

Conclusion
I love how the Frame turned out, I really like the calming Colours and the Simplicity of it. Painting is such an easy way to change the appearance of a Frame and match it to your own preferences.
It is also a Budget Craft as the Frame only cost me €1.50 and I already had the Paint, Sponge, Paper, Tape and Stickers. The Frame is now more my Style and blends in with my other Home Accessories.
If you love Butterflies as much as I do; you might appreciate these other Crafts I have made previously: Butterfly Bottle and Butterfly Canvas Board.
