Nature Canvas Tutorial
Hello my Creative Friends,
I hope you are all Well. In Today’s Tutorial I will show you How I made a Nature Inspired Canvas. It would make the perfect addition to Autumn / Fall Decor. It requires minimal materials and hopefully you gain some Creative Ideas from my Tutorial.
Canvas before Crafting
I had a Square Primed 20cm x 20cm Canvas left over from a 4 Pack.
Decorating the Background of the Nature Canvas
I Bought an 8″ x 8″ Autumn Pad recently. I chose this Page to use for my Nature Canvas.
I put Strips of Double-Sided Tape all over the Canvas.
I removed the White Backing from each Strip of Double-Sided Tape.
The Double-Sided Tape is now Sticky on both Sides.
I attached the Autumn Sheet to the Canvas by pressing it into the Double-Sided Tape.
There was a slight overlap of the Paper on the Top of the Canvas so I trimmed the excess paper off with a Scissors.
Focal Image for the Nature Canvas
I had a 12″ x 12″ Nature Inspired Cardstock Sheet.
I Cut out the first Image of a Mushroom, Wood Slice & Leaves & will be using this as my Focal Point on my Nature Canvas.
Making Different Dimensions for the Canvas
I Cut out a Copper Coloured Cardstock for the Background of the Image I just Cut out.
I put Double-Sided Foam Rectangles on the Back of the Copper Cardstock to add a litttle bit of height to the Canvas.
I removed the White Backing from each Foam Rectangle and attached the Copper Sheet to the left Side of the Canvas.
I Cut out a Smaller Cream Cardstock to go on top of the Copper Sheet.
I put 2 layers of Double-Sided Foam Squares on the back of the Cream Card to give it more Dimension.
I attached it to the Copper Card.
I also added 2 layers of Foam Squares on the back of the Nature Image I Cut out.
I attached the Focal Point Image on top of the Cream Card.
Here is a Side View of the Canvas showing the different Dimensions.
Adding Interest to the Nature Canvas with Dried Moss
I got my Bag of Dried Moss.
I Plugged in my Hot Glue Gun and let it Heat up for 5 Minutes.
I added Glue to the Canvas and then attached a small handful of Dried Moss to the Glue. I Continued until I had all 4 Sides of the Canvas filled with Moss.
I love the Natural Woodland appearance of the Canvas with the addition of the Moss; it adds interest and texture.
Autumn Images for the Canvas
I Fussy-Cut some Images from a Cardstock Sheet that came with the 8″ x 8″ Autumn Pad.
These are some of the Woodland Die-Cuts that I might use for the Canvas.
Attaching the Images around the Canvas
I put some Pritt Stick on the edge of the Die-Cut Mushroom and attached it to the edge of the Woodland Image.
I put 2 layers of Foam Squares on the back of the ‘Back to Nature’ Die-Cut. I only put one foam square on the first edge of the Die-Cut as I will be attaching that part on the top edge of the Copper Cardstock which already has a Foam Square underneath.
I pressed the Sentiment into place on the Canvas.
I put a Foam Square on the back bottom part of the Bird Image and placed it on the top right corner of the Cream Cardstock.
I put 2 foam squares on the back bottom part of a leaf.
I placed it under the bottom left corner of the Copper Cardstock.
I put Pritt Stick on the back of an acorn and placed it on the Copper Cardstock over the leaf. I attached another leaf under the Copper Cardstock on the top left corner. I added a pumpkin Image over the leaf.
I used Pritt Stick on the edges of 3 Colourful Leaves and attached them over the Acorn.
A red leaf was placed under the Bird. I added green acorns and red berries on the Side of the Focal Image.
Finishing Touches to the Nature Canvas
I attached 1 small & 1 big twig to the Background Cardstock with Hot Glue.
A Wooden Butterfly finished off the top left corner of the Cardstock. It was attached with Hot Glue.
I added some Dried Moss to the Twigs with Hot Glue.
I placed a Squirrel on top of the Twigs using Hot Glue.
This Completed my Nature Canvas.

Conclusion
I Love how the Nature Canvas turned out. I think the Dried Moss adds so much Character to the Canvas; it gives me Fairytale Vibes. I adore the warm Autumn Colours on the Background and the Cut Out Images. I like how Realistic the Die-Cuts and Autumn Images are; sometimes it can be hard to get Images more relevant for Adults, but I think these are perfect.
I put the Canvas on my Mantle Piece in the Sitting Room and I think it blends in beautifully with my other D.I.Y. Autumn Crafts. The Woodland Animal Ornaments I have had for Years and they Complement the Fall Crafts.
