Re-Purposed Bottle & Stone Tutorial
Hello my Creative Friends,
I hope you are all well. In Today’s Tutorial I will show you how I Re-Purposed a Bottle and Stone into 2 Home Decor pieces. It is the perfect craft for anyone who likes Skulls, Gothic Decor, Heavy Metal Music, or Punk Rock. Even if that isn’t to your taste you can still follow the Tutorial and just change the Image on the Bottle and Stone to something more suited to your style. It is a Budget Craft and I hope you gain some ideas and inspiration from it.
Bottle for Crafting
I had an empty Whiskey Bottle in my Craft Supplies. I liked the size and shape of it and thought it would be perfect up-cycled for a Male Craft (or for anyone who likes Whiskey).
I soaked the Bottle and Lid in the sink with warm water and washing-up-liquid for an hour. I then peeled off the label, rinsed and dried the Bottle and lid.
Stone for Crafting
I chose a Stone from my Collection. I had picked it on a Walk, I liked that the bottom of it was flat, and I loved the unusual shape of it. I washed the Stone along with the others after I brought them home. I used a brush with a long handle and scrubbed them one-by-one over a basin of warm water and let them air-dry on a towel.
Spray Paint Recommendations
I brought the Bottle, Lid and Stone out to the Shed to Spray Paint. Always Spray Paint in a well ventilated area. Open Windows and Doors and leave the area as soon as you can after Spray Painting to avoid inhaling any fumes. Follow the Instructions on the back of the Spray Can.
Setting up Props for Spray Painting
I set up my fold-away Table in the Shed. I put an old Crate on the Table, I placed a thin Iron Bar through a hole in the Crate to keep it steady. I then put the Bottle over the Iron Bar. This is so I could spray paint every angle of the bottle without having to touch or move it. I found these objects in the shed, have a look in your own home or shed / garage for props to use while spray painting. Choose something you don’t mind getting Spray Paint on.
I put the Lid of the Bottle on the Table.
I put the Stone on the other side of the Crate.
Spray Painting the Bottle, Lid & Stone
The Spray Paint I used was Black Gloss. I shook the Spray Can from side to side for a minute. I removed the lid and held the spray can about 20 cm away from the base of the Bottle. I sprayed the base of the bottle first and then from the bottom of the bottle to the top of the bottle in 1 straight line down the bottle. I then gave the Spray can a quick shake and then done another line of spray paint down the bottle beside the first line. I continued this process all around the bottle until I had one even layer completed. It only takes a minute to get it all done. Rust-Oleum Spray Paint – Black.
I Spray Painted the Lid of the Bottle next.
I shook the Spray Paint can and then Sprayed the front and sides of the Stone. Rust-Oleum Spray Paint – Black.
An hour later I returned to the shed and Spray Painted the second layer onto the Bottle in the same way as the first layer.
I sprayed the lid for the second time. Rust-Oleum Spray Paint – Black.
I applied the second layer of Spray Paint to the Stone.
Spray Painting the Back of the Stone
The next day I Spray Painted the back of the Stone. Rust-Oleum Spray Paint – Black.
After an hour I sprayed the second layer to the back of the stone.
Re-Purposed Objects after Curing Time
After the final layer of Spray Paint was applied I left the Bottle, Lid and Stone in the Shed to Cure for 48 hours. This is the Bottle and Lid after being brought back inside 2 days later.

Gold Paint Pen for Re-Purposed Bottle & Stone
I got my ‘Gold uni POSCA Acrylic Paint Pen 0.7 mm’ from my Paint supplies. Uni Posca Paint Pens.
Drawing the Skull onto the Bottle
I looked up ‘Skull Template’ on Google Images. I had a look at a few of them for ideas and then drew the outline of a Skull on the Bottle with the Gold Paint Pen.
I filled in the inside of the Skull and it’s teeth with the Gold Paint Pen. Uni Posca Paint Pens.
Adding Ribbon to the Re-Purposed Bottle
I had a Black and Gold Ribbon in my Craft Supplies. I cut it to fit around the lid of the Bottle. Satin Ribbon Black and Gold.
I spread some of ‘Anita’s Tacky PVA Glue’ on the back of the ribbon with a small paintbrush and attached it to the lid of the bottle. Anita’s Tacky PVA Glue.
Finishing the Re-Purposed Bottle
I added a couple more layers to the Skull using the Gold Paint Pen. Uni Posca Paint Pens.
This Completed the Skull Bottle.

Drawing the Logo onto the Stone
The person that I made these Gifts for loves Heavy Metal Music so I drew the ‘Lamb Of God’ Band’s Logo onto the Stone with the Gold Paint Pen.
I filled in the Letters l, o, and g with the Paint Pen. Uni Posca Paint Pens.
Completing the Re-Purposed Stone
I added a couple more layers to the logo on the stone. Uni Posca Paint Pens.

Conclusion
I am really pleased with how the Bottle and Stone turned out. They were transformed into Home Decor ornaments. I love the Black and Gold Colour combination and how the 2 pieces go together like a set. It was an easy, budget craft and I hope it inspires you to get a Can of Spray Paint and see what objects you can overhaul.
It was nice to make a Male inspired Home Decor piece for this Blog Post. I would like the Blog to be for everyone, so if you have any ideas of what you would like me to Create, just fill out the Comment Box below this Blog Post with your request, and I’ll see if I can fulfill it.
The Bottle and Stone would be ideal as Decor in a Man Cave or Adult Games Room. They would complement a Home Bar or even a Home Cinema or Basement / Attic Renovation. It would be a great way to re-use Bottles and have them on display. The options are endless with what you could put on the others; a Monogram, Last Name, Age 30, 40 etc. or any hobbies and interests the Man in your life has.
I hope you got some ideas from this Tutorial for your own D.I.Y. Home Decor. The Skull image can easily be changed to something else, you could draw a Music Note, a Guitar, or whatever else you would prefer instead. If you need help in drawing the object, Google Images and Pinterest are great for inspiration. You can print out a few pictures for references.
The same with the Band Logo on the Stone, you can write any Band or Movie / Superhero you like on it. It would make a thoughtful Gift for someone when it’s more personal and something they enjoy. Have fun with it and see what you come up with.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read my Blog.
Always Grateful,
T.D.C.
