Wool Heart Tutorial
Hello my Creative Friends,
I hope you are all Well. In Today’s Tutorial I will show you how to Make a Wool Heart. They are easy to make and only require Wool, Cardboard, Glue and Ribbon/String to hang them up. They can be made whatever Size you like and the same goes with the Colour Wool or String you choose.
Cardboard for the Base of the Heart
I had some Cardboard from a Box in my Supplies.
Making the Heart Template
I got my 6 Piece Heart Cutter Set. These are for Baking but I bought them for Crafts to make it easy to draw different size Hearts.
I got the Biggest Size Heart from the Pack.
I traced around the White Heart onto the Cardboard with a Pencil.
I Cut out the Heart Template.
Wool for the First Heart
I got my Pink Wool.
I plugged in my Hot Glue Gun with Clear Glue Stick inserted and let it heat up for 5 minutes. I placed a dab of Hot Glue on the mid-section of the heart and attached the end of the Wool to the Glue. I held the wool to the glue with the end of a pencil to prevent getting burned.
Making the Wool Heart
I started to wrap the wool around the cardboard heart.
I wrapped the wool randomly in different directions around the heart.
I wrapped the wool tight to prevent it sliding off the cardboard.
A close-up of how the wool heart is coming together.
There was a knot and loop in the wool so I cut it off and Hot Glued the end of the wool to the back of the heart.
I put a dab of hot glue on the back of the heart and attached more wool to it.
I continued with the process of wrapping the wool around the heart until all the cardboard was covered and the wool heart was nice and full.
I cut the excess wool from the heart.
I put Hot Glue on the back of the heart and attached the end of the wool to it. I held it in place with a pencil for a few seconds.
This is the back of the Wool Heart.
Here is the front of the Craft so far.
Below is the Pink Heart beside the Ball of Wool, there is still plenty left after making the heart.
Attaching a Ribbon to the Wool Heart
I got a Pink and White Polka Dot Ribbon from my Supplies.
I cut a section of the Ribbon and Hot Glued the ends together.
I put Hot Glue along the top mid-section on the back of the Pink Heart and attached the ribbon to the Glue.
A side angle of the Ribbon attached to the Heart.
This Completed the first Wool Heart.
Making the Second Heart
I got another section of Cardboard.
This time I used the third Size Love Heart from the Pack and again traced around it on the cardboard using a pencil.
I cut out the Cardboard Heart.
I got my Roll of Cream Cord String.
I put a dab of Clear Hot Glue on the back of the Cardboard Heart and attached the Cream String to it.
I wrapped the String all around the Heart until the Cardboard was covered and I was happy with the fullness.
I cut the excess string and hot glued the end of the string to the back of the heart.
Adding String to the Cream Heart
I cut a section of the same Cream String Roll to use to hang the heart. I Hot Glued the ends of the string together.
I put hot glue on the back of the heart and attached the string to it.
This Completed the second Heart, here it is beside the first bigger Size Heart.
Purple Wool Heart
Below is a Purple Wool Heart I made a few Months ago. I used a Grey and White Cord String to Hang it.
Here is a picture of the three Completed Hearts together.

Conclusion
I am really happy with how the Hearts turned out. It’s hard to believe they are made from Cardboard. It is a great beginner Craft as you don’t have to spend alot of Money on Supplies and it doesn’t require any difficult steps to make. It is a Fun Craft and can add a Homely Decorative Touch to any room in your Home. Here is another Craft made from Wool and Cardboard; Moon and Stars Wall Decor.
They would make a Thoughtful D.I.Y. Gift for Numerous Occasions. They would work for an Engagement Present, a Wedding or Anniversary Present. Handcrafted Hearts would be perfect for Valentines Day. They would be ideal for a Couple moving into a New Home. They would also be lovely for a Sister, Mother, or Friend’s Birthday Present in their favourite Colour. The Hearts would also work for Nursery Decor, or any Bedroom Decor.
They can be customised to your preferred Style, the Cream Heart I made would suit a Rustic, Farmhouse, Shabby Chic Style. The Pink and Purple Hearts are more Feminine and Pastel. You can make them in brighter Colours for Childrens’ Bedrooms or Playroom. You could make a Garland with smaller Size Hearts. The options are endless really.
Let me know if you give this Craft a try, I’d love to know what Colour you chose for your Wool Heart.
Thank you so Much for taking the time to Read my Blog.
Always Grateful,
T.D.C.
